Files include folders on such subjects as Anniversary Day, building, committees, Sunday school apportionments, bills, budget, concert, correspondence, donations, managers' election, speech material, and the Christmas appeal. Some files are organized by the districts and divisions into which the Sunday schools were divided. Some contain correspondence and materials from other Sunday school organizations including Bayside Sunday School Union, Flushing Sunday School Union, and the Jamaica Sunday School Association. Other files pertain to the teacher training schools including Central School for Religious Leadership, Flatbush School for Religious Life, Bay Ridge School for Christian Leadership, Bay Ridge Training School, Flatbush Training School, Central Training School, and Camp Mont Lawn, ca.1930-1970 (a few earlier and later records are included). Four file drawers, ca.1930-1960, are devoted to Anniversary Day activities and include invitations, seating lists, parade routes, correspondence, contracts, reports of district and division marshals, publicity, hymns, and clippings. Nine card files contain registration cards for students enrolled in training schools, library book catalog, statistics, 1950's-1960's. Also, Anniversary Day posters and banners.

The Brooklyn Sabbath School Union (later known as the Brooklyn Sunday School Union) was formed in 1830 for the purpose of providing young people with Christian religious instruction, which the Union's founders asserted was sorely lacking from public education. Churches of many Protestant denominations were represented in the Union, including Baptist, Presbyterian, Congregational, Lutheren, and Reformed churches.
